   UTSA

Many people are confused by the concept of "Upgrades and Technical Support Agreement" (UTSA) because they associate it to the term of "subscription" and jump to conclusions about expirations of JLap Race Manager software. This page is intended to clarify such points. If you have further questions, please feel free to ask the sales team.

We are software developers but we are racers too, just as you are, and we have designed our sales methods to treat you in a manner we would like to be treated by vendors.

Better than a Versioned Purchase

Many users are afraid of the word subscription . However our UTSA program was designed to provide you with all the benefits of a normal versioned purchase (where you purchase a specific version and must pay for upgrades), plus more. With this agreement you are guaranteed the current version, plus updates and upgrades to newer major versions. All without the need to pay for each upgrade! This assures that you are always current and have the latest features and bug fixes.

When you purchased a license of our software, you receive ONE YEAR of the UTSA completely free, and you will get the current release, support, and bug fixes just as you would with a versioned purchase. Also, because of typical release cycles, you will also receive free upgrades to newer major versions. That is a big advantage over versioned purchases.

For hobby shops and clubs, you can also budget in renewals each year instead of needing to get approval for each upgrade cycle. Renewals are offered at very significant discounts if renewed before UTSA expiration.

No Expiration of Software

The JLap Race Manager license you ordered will not turn to fairy dust if your UTSA expires. It will never expire and in fact you can continue to receive technical support (exclusively via e-mail). However, if a new feature or bug fix were implemented in a latest version, you will not be able to install it.

Support

A unique username and password is issued to each registered user which allows them to gain access to our priority technical support area of our web site. This username is linked to an expiration date and access is only permitted during the term of the UTSA. You will be able to additional users (maximum of three), who will have the same rights on your JLap's license as you have.

Out of UTSA, the technical support is handled via e-mail and is not as in depth or as fast as priority support. If the problem encountered, requires a bug fix, you will not be able to get it without the UTSA renewing.

Upgrades

Each JLap build has an embedded build date and each license key has an embedded expiration date. Builds built after your expiration date will not recognize your license key. So unless you upgrade to a build that was released after your UTSA term, your software will continue to function as it always has.

TGR Software provides only limited archives of older released versions. Please be sure to back up your installations. We do our best and it is our policy to maintain the last release of each major version and make it available on our web site.

What Expires?

1. Access to priority support. After your expiration date you will not be able to access priority support. You will retain access to our other support options.

2. Access to versions released after expiration date. After your expiration date, new builds released after your expiration date will not recognize your license key.

Cost of Renewals

Renewals of subscriptions are offered at very significant discounts:

UTSA for ONE Year - Super PRO Version:
US$230.00
UTSA for ONE Year - PRO Version:
US$180.00
UTSA for ONE Year - Beginners Version:
US$90.00

NOTE: The upgrade to the latest version includes ONE Year of UTSA.

Beta Access

Beta access is restricted to selected preferred customers who ordered JLap in the early versions (end of 1999 and earlier 2000). Eventually, new customers may join this program. Participating in beta programs allows advanced testing of new features, direct involvement in shaping of future features and a free UTSA for the time they are engaged with the Beta Access program.

NOTE: The status of Beta Access program may be removed from any customer by our own discretion and without any previous notice.
